Hello, my name is Karen. My husband, Mark, and I live on a beautiful horse farm in the Ocala area of Florida. Together with my mother, Maureen, we are proud to breed high-quality, authentic multi-generational Australian Labradoodles for service, therapy, and loving family homes.

I’ve been an animal lover my entire life. Growing up, I can’t remember a time when I didn’t have a dog, cat, bunny, horse—or just about any animal I could convince my parents to let me have. Although I enjoyed a rewarding 25-year career in the creative field of graphic design and photography, my lifelong dream has always been to breed dogs.

That dream began with Kea, my beloved Goldendoodle (now in heaven). From the moment I brought her home as an 8-week-old puppy, she never left my side. Her joyful, people-oriented personality, gentle temperament, and non-shedding coat made me fall completely in love with the “doodle” breeds.

Over time, I noticed that many doodles were being bred without clear goals or standards for temperament, coat quality, or—most importantly—health. I wanted to change that. After extensive research, I chose to focus on breeding Australian Labradoodles, a breed developed with consistency, health, and purpose in mind. In 2013, I purchased my first two foundation females and began the journey that would become Sunrise Australian Labradoodles.

As a passionate advocate for health testing and ethical breeding, I am a long-standing member of the Worldwide Australian Labradoodle Association (WALA) and was honored to serve as a founding member and Board of Directors member for many years. WALA unites breeders around the world who are committed to maintaining the highest standards of breeding practices and preserving accurate pedigrees and health information for future generations.

Although I was new to breeding Australian Labradoodles at the time, I was not new to animals, dogs, or dedication. With the mentorship of several experienced breeders, I learned how to make thoughtful choices to ensure quality and integrity in every pairing. Today, after many years of breeding, I am proud that my program continues to contribute positively to the development and improvement of the Australian Labradoodle breed—especially in the areas of service and therapy work.

The dogs we breed today form the foundation for generations to come. That challenge—and responsibility—is what inspires me every day.

Sunrise Australian Labradoodles is a registered WALA breeder. We go above and beyond the required health testing and breed to the WALA All-Star Health Standard for all of our breeding dogs. Puppies are lovingly raised in our home, where they are well-socialized and people-focused from the very beginning. Our goal is to provide you with an exceptional Australian Labradoodle—a healthy, happy, and intelligent companion to cherish for years to come.
